The library is not a database. It is a single function that turns a location into a page and a page back into its location, so every search is instant and every link is permanent.

Your name, a line you wrote, the message you just sent. It is on a page already; we compute exactly which one.

Share the page

Every page has a permanent address. Copy the link and the same 3,200 characters open for anyone, forever.

How it works

Three steps from a shelf to a page

A location is a number

Hexagon, wall, shelf, volume and page combine into one integer, about 15,600 bits long.

The number is scrambled

Three rounds of multiply-and-add, with the digits reversed in between, turn it into a different number of the same size.

The result is read as text

Written in base 29, that number has exactly 3,200 digits. Each digit is a letter. Run it backwards and you have search.
